Roger Staubach did it all in this game, dominating on both offense and defense! Here Roger the Dodger glides into the end zone with an "in your face" message for the Ricky Williams Saints' bobblehead giant!

post twirl" while Marino is 86 yards in the opposite direction on the game's only touchdown! Again, thanks to WeirdWolf for photo help!

The transition from annoucing electric football games to real ones seemed very natural for me. I was blessed with the opportunity to be the play-by-play radio announcer for the LSU Tigers. The experience gained on the college station was the key to my being hired right out of college as the News and Sports Director of Baton Rouge Radio Station WIBR-AM. Eager to make contacts within the NFL, I made the short two-hour drive to New Orleans to cover Saints games. As destiny would have it, the Green Bay Packers, coached by Bart Starr, were coming to New Orleans in 1981. I quickly wrote several pages to the Packer office detailing my lifelong love for the team and how I had actually passed of of freshman English at LSU because of a 16-page essay I wrote on Lombardi's phrase "Winning Isn't Everything, It's the Only Thing". I related how I had idolized Bart Starr as a youth and would treasure meeting him in person. The Packer office graciously set me up with an exclusive one-on-one interview with Bart Starr once the game was over. The dream had become reality as I met my childhood sports hero and had my photograph taken with him on the field of the New Orleans Super Dome! When I look back at my life, I can honestly thank electric football for making this all possible!
Solitaire Electric Football is Back!
(Houston, Texas) Solitaire is back bigger and better than ever! Glenn Hardaway first began playing electric
football in 1967. Going beyond just playing the game, Hardaway started his own sports newspaper called The Tudor Times. He also announced the games into a cassette recorder and kept league standings. This continued until 1971 and then, as most teenagers do, he found other interests and moved on with his life. He was blessed with a fine son in 1984 and by the time Steve was 4 years old, dad decided to break out the old electric football equipment. His son was fascinated with the Denver Broncos, especially quarterback John Elway. This became his favorite team in real life as well. It was hit or miss for a couple of years, but when Steve lost interest at age 6, Glenn put the game back into storage where it stayed. Now, after two decades, Hardaway is at it again! (continued)
The Tudor Times Solitaire Edition interviewed Commissioner Glenn Hardaway regarding his new found interest in a hobby he enjoyed as a kid well over two and half decades ago. "Right now, I have 3 main areas of interest in my electric football hobby. First is collecting teams, both new Miggle teams and original Tudor Games teams. Second, I love painting and detailing teams with decals, face masks, chinstraps, you name it. The more I learn about this hobby the more I get into the fine details! Finally, I thoroughly enjoy playing games in my solitaire leagues and in league competition," Hardaway explained. Some game photos can be seen below. (continued)

MY DREAM BECAME A REALITY THANKS TO ELECTRIC FOOTBALL!
The very first time I can remember seeing a color television set was when I was 8 years old in 1967. My parents were visiting friends and the Green Bay Packers were playing the Cleveland Browns. I was very impressed with the striking beauty of the Packers' dark green jerseys and golden yellow pants. Right then and there I decided the Packers were my favorite team, much to the dismay of my Dallas Cowboy-loving parents! The next Christmas I got my very first NFL football set, a Tudor Model 510 with the Packers and Colts. It was the best gift I could ever imagine, and I spent untold hours playing electric football and fantasizing about playing for the Green Bay Packers. I eventually began doing my own announcing of the games with a cassette tape recorder. It planted a seed that years later led to a major in Broadcast Journalism at LSU, then a radio/television career.

"This hobby also gives me the chance to continue my interest in sports reporting and writing," Hardaway added. All the electric football game writeups and photos can be seen in the archives of Tudor Times Solitaire Edition. There are several different leagues that make up the HSEFL. They are divided by the types of figures and bases that were made by both Tudor Games in the late 60's and early 70's and the Miggle Toys company which manufactured electric football teams and equipment from the 80's until present. Hardaway says he has several goals in mind as he continues collecting his electric football teams. "The main thing I would like to do is to collect all of the original Tudor 1967 Deluxe Teams (also known as the Big Man teams) that were the first batch of pre-painted NFL teams that Tudor sold. As they say, they don't make these any more, so they are both rare and very costly. Regardless, I want to collect every jersey of every team in as mint condition as possible. I have creating a
solitaire league for each type of team that was made by the manufacturers. Another goal I have is to collect every jersey of every Tudor "hog leg" team that was made. I did have these at one time, but I painted over them adding my own details. That's another collection, of course, but I want all the originals again." (see Inventory and Things I Buy)
Triple Interest in Electric Football(continued)
He created several leagues and put them all under the umbrella of "The Hardaway Solitaire Electric Football Leagues". Hardaway says, "The best hobby on earth has much more to offer now than it ever did when I was a kid, and it was really fun even then! The electric football products have greatly improved over the years and today the hobby has exploded across the nation. The player figures are much larger and more realistic now. The bases controlling player movement are better than ever, and the gameboards have also risen to a new level. All this makes electric football a game that is so realistic now that some actual football coaches are now able to use this game to develop plays and strategies to take to the real football field!"
